Most people turn to Google to find answers to their burning questions, whether they are dealing with household problems or DIY catastrophes. You can find everything you need on the internet, including how to change a lightbulb and the best toilet cleaning products for 2021.

Toolstation analyzed search data between August 2020 and July 2021 to discover the most common home DIY queries. These are the top five DIY queries, along with the answers that many of us have been searching for:  

5. How to unblock your drain

Searches: 129.500

The search query “how do I unblock a drain?” is fifth on the list with 129,500 searches from August 2020 to July 2021. Unblocking a drain can be a frustrating task, regardless of whether it’s a blocked kitchen sink or bathroom sink.

Although the best way to unclog your drain in the first instance is to do so before it clogs again, this is not the most practical advice. However, there are some simple preventative steps you can take. To prevent grease buildup, you can immediately start to squirt some dish soap down the kitchen sink. You’ll also notice a fresh, clean scent in your sink.

How do you flush a radiator? First, turn off your heating and make sure the radiators are cool. Next, place an old cloth or a jug under the bleed valve and insert the key. The bleed valve should be turned counterclockwise until air is escaping. You will hear a hissing sound. You will be able to turn on the heating again if your radiators are properly warming up.
